Meet the Community: Ana A.

Lionbridge's English-to-Spanish Translation Partner in Madrid, Spain

Meet Ana A. an English-to-Spanish translator from Madrid, Spain who has been a member of the Lionbridge Community since 2002 and has worked on many strategic projects and accounts. Read on to find out more about Ana.

How did you get into the translation industry?

It was a bit by chance. My older sister was working as a translator in Berlitz, and she seemed very happy. I had just returned from Beijing where I had been working as a university professor in Spanish Studies, so I decided to follow her lead and got into the translation industry.

What do you like most about being a part of the Lionbridge Community?

Undoubtedly, interacting with so many people. The Lionbridge Community gives you the opportunity to meet people from around the world. For example, I work with people from China and India every day, and even when our countries are so far away, we share the same love for the work we do, and we collaborate very smoothly.

Tell us about some of your hobbies and interests.

I love writing, but I hate doing it alone. For that reason, I have partnered with a long-life friend to write novels. So far, we have three young-adult novels published in Spain and Mexico. However, like superheroes, we have published them under a secret identity: Amy Lab.

What is your favorite food and why?

My favorite food is a typical Spanish dish: gazpacho. It is a cold soup made of raw vegetables: tomato, pepper, onion, garlic, olive oil and vinegar. It is very refreshing in summer.

What is the coolest language task you’ve participated in?

I love all tasks related to new technologies. We are now witnessing the huge growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. As a linguist, I love to collaborate in the development of these amazing technologies.
