Meet the Pride: Lex Parisi

Lionbridge Games’ Director of Gaming Marketing Solutions

In this installation of our Meet the Pride Series, travel to the Pacific Northwest to meet Lex P., Lionbridge Games’ Director of Gaming Marketing Solutions. From spearheading internal marketing strategy to doling out customer advice, Lex serves as the foremost marketing expert here at Lionbridge Games. When she's not supporting content campaigns or lining up events, Lex enjoys gaming, gardening, journaling, and enjoying her state’s abundant nature.

Tell us about your role at Lionbridge.

I’ve been the Director of Marketing for Lionbridge Games for about a year and a half. My role is to spread the word about the work we do by creating strategic plans and supporting content creation and campaigns, maintaining social channels (y’all follow us, right?), planning events, lining up press and speaker opportunities, recruiting, and my personal favorite: developing swag.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I get the opportunity to work with so many people all over the world, both Lionbridge and external games partners. Every day is super dynamic.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

There's no such thing as “typical” around here. The games industry is like a procedurally generated dungeon, and every day is different depending on the season. Generally, the first thing I do is check in with my global team to see what we need to work on and whether we have a campaign to be optimized, a sales presentation to support, or a Twitch stream to moderate. Then, I’ll do some reporting and research here and there. Much of my job is staying up to date on different industry trends, customer feedback, game releases, and how to strategically make it all work together.

People tend to think marketing is its own little world, but we work cross-functionally with just about every department. Often, it falls to marketing to be the bridge between worlds and translate what’s happening in the public sphere to practical recommendations and actions in the company. We figure out people’s pain points and how we can help fix them. What do people want to learn about, and how can we help get them that info? Whether it’s for a developer or an internal tester, we work with our internal teams to find those solutions.

What excites you the most about the industry you work in?

Games is an industry that brings joy and fun to people, so it’s really awesome to think my work has a positive impact. On top of that, I’m a huge gamer, and I get to work on some of my favorite titles with Publishing and Developer Partners.

Where do you live, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I live in the US in the Pacific Northwest. While it can be pretty rainy here in the Fall and Winter (...and some of Spring), I happen to enjoy that. There's also a lot to do up here, like meetups, cons, camping beaches, boats, outdooring. I love being surrounded by nature and having space to use it.

What is something a tourist visiting your area shouldn’t miss?

At the time of this interview, it’s fall, which is arguably the best season in the region. We have apple picking, and hiking is beautiful this time of year. During other seasons, camping is great, and there are a lot of State Parks, which have something for everyone. Spring has great cherry blossom viewing, too!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love gardening and cooking. I’m slowly turning my house into a mini homestead! I make a lot of things from scratch, like bread, yogurt, butter, and even marshmallows. I also grow a lot of the vegetables and herbs I use in my cooking, which I love, and now I’m learning how to make things with dried native flowers (which Yarrow is amazing for). Other than that, I love gaming (surprise), journaling, and petting my cat, Henry.

What got you interested in video games?

When I was little, I used to watch my siblings play a lot. My brother made me sit next to him on the second NES controller to hold a super jump cheat for Megaman 3, and the rest is history.

What is your favorite game?

Asking a gamer to pick their favorite game is cruel, but I can tell you my favorite franchises: Final Fantasy, Persona, and Animal Crossing.

How many languages do you speak?

I speak English and Japanese. I love working at a place where I get to use and learn multiple languages from time to time. Since we have offices and facilities all over, I’ve learned a little Polish to get around when in Warsaw and have been trying to get better at my Brazilian Portuguese.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
