SELECT LANGUAGE:
When you’re under tight submission deadlines, you need a partner that provides fast, accurate legal language services. Lionbridge offers the support you can count on – from the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) translation at scale to expert legal interpreters for witness interviews.
Our customer is a US-based multinational pharmaceutical corporation. They are known worldwide for the development of innovative medicines and vaccines – including several blockbuster drugs that each generate over $1 billion USD in annual revenue.
The company and their outside counsel needed to translate documents for several concurrent FCPA investigations. Lionbridge was retained after the previous language services provider struggled with complex document management logistics.
Lionbridge worked closely with outside counsel to address their concerns and developed a workflow protocol that was tailored to their translation procurement goals. We assisted attorneys and support staff in the Boston and Beijing offices of the client’s legal representation to prepare the translations for submission. The document review was conducted primarily at the Beijing office and the hot documents were routed to Lionbridge for translation.
Lionbridge met all of the deadlines, adhered to the client’s instructions and style guide, and the DOJ accepted all translations without any issues. The project ultimately led to more work with the law firm on other FCPA matters involving pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
“Collectively, this new guidance should push prosecutors and corporate counsel alike to feel they are “on the clock” to expedite investigations, particularly as to culpable individuals. While many companies and prosecutors follow these principles now, this guidance sets new expectations about the sequencing of investigations and clarifies the Department’s priorities.”
- Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco, Remarks on Corporate Criminal Enforcement
